Curated by Ulya Soley the exhibition takes place from&nbsp;September 12&nbsp;to&nbsp;October 26, 2025.&nbsp; Working primarily across photography, video, and music, Farah Al Qasimi places Desert Hyacinth (2025) at the center of the exhibition, lending both its title and spirit to the show. The desert hyacinth, a steadfast plant native to the Middle East and North Africa, thrives in sandy and arid environments, producing delicate star-shaped white flowers. Its persistence in the face of extreme conditions mirrors the resilience of communities that continue to survive and assert their presence under challenging sociopolitical contexts.&nbsp; Desert Hyacinth unfolds as an immersive photographic installation on the gallery's ground floor. Expansive, large-scale prints stretch across the walls, creating a backdrop for a selection of images drawn from Al Qasimi's ongoing series, photographed in the United Arab Emirates since 2021. Fleeting metaphors, clandestine encounters behind closed doors, the struggle to resist internalizing a climate of fear under constant surveillance and control, interiors and exteriors, the inside and outside of the body; all coalesce through photographs displayed side by side and layered upon one another. Often free from the overt presence of the camera's gaze, these images evoke the sensation of viewing a city from above while simultaneously focusing on its most intimate details. <img width="3750" The exhibition draws strength from moments when living beings stand out easily due to their unusual appearance and their harmony with the environment weakens: A spider spinning its web while on stimulant, a deer developing antlers of different textures and shapes as a result of hormonal changes, fungi trying to grow through the holes of a stone; each permeates the construction of the works, spreading through the space as limbs and extensions. &nbsp; <img width="2244" height="1496" width_o="2244" height_o="1496" In the city where the “center-periphery” distinction has begun to fade, one can no longer talk about an ideal “Istanbulite”, nor the distinction between those who came there later and those who are claimed to be foreign to the culture, nor the uniqueness of the “old Istanbul images”. <img width="6016" height="4016" width_o="6016" height_o="4016" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/bab7dbc1cb9e51d0253b3dc35ca5981351091af4c972ea09174d4687c679678a/DSC_9838_2.jpg" data-mid="251187066" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/bab7dbc1cb9e51d0253b3dc35ca5981351091af4c972ea09174d4687c679678a/DSC_9838_2.jpg" /><img width="6394" height="4262" width_o="6394" height_o="4262" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/59a5031ecdc0f46f98a6080ae5c50b359368f882e4899008277c1cb4c2a0b556/DSC_9767.jpg" data-mid="251187530" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/59a5031ecdc0f46f98a6080ae5c50b359368f882e4899008277c1cb4c2a0b556/DSC_9767.jpg" /> <img width="6016" height="4016" width_o="6016" height_o="4016" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/021c6808c60e97fca5c3c38d3468bfed5ec801f5ae017816b14ffd994838953a/DSC_9789.jpg" data-mid="251187616" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/021c6808c60e97fca5c3c38d3468bfed5ec801f5ae017816b14ffd994838953a/DSC_9789.jpg" /> <img width="6119" height="4079" width_o="6119" height_o="4079" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/70876ccfbed1d2c9e6abe0fe09e81dd747bd091b0f34788cc94b1382f7f03557/DSC_9806.jpg" data-mid="251187865" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/70876ccfbed1d2c9e6abe0fe09e81dd747bd091b0f34788cc94b1382f7f03557/DSC_9806.jpg" /> <img width="5867" height="3917" width_o="5867" height_o="3917" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/5e17389453e53b64d081712412d53045bc9fa8c78076c7fd4aca5546f10ba74a/DSC_9805.jpg" data-mid="251187895" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/5e17389453e53b64d081712412d53045bc9fa8c78076c7fd4aca5546f10ba74a/DSC_9805.jpg" /> <img width="6016" height="4016" width_o="6016" height_o="4016" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/6ee6326275357d1e691f9690d96ea42f907f47924f3b820abd7fcab464ff5c8e/DSC_9824_1.jpg" data-mid="251187896" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/6ee6326275357d1e691f9690d96ea42f907f47924f3b820abd7fcab464ff5c8e/DSC_9824_1.jpg" /> <img width="6016" height="4016" width_o="6016" height_o="4016" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/95100b6fc53a16a0675bf94e6841706632118b851233200bb8f6a0bb5f3044a2/DSC_9810.jpg" data-mid="251187897" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/95100b6fc53a16a0675bf94e6841706632118b851233200bb8f6a0bb5f3044a2/DSC_9810.jpg" /> <img width="6016" height="4016" width_o="6016" height_o="4016" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/8ac1844766865ebeac6f599ed51d033a0455a6702690a59e971672c09ba561c2/DSC_9889.jpg" data-mid="251187916" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/8ac1844766865ebeac6f599ed51d033a0455a6702690a59e971672c09ba561c2/DSC_9889.jpg" /> <img width="5339" height="3559" width_o="5339" height_o="3559" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/1050bcbcdcc850a7989f13a7ed47dba71c738fa5160202027737b46e2d2df76b/DSC_9891.jpg" data-mid="251187917" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/1050bcbcdcc850a7989f13a7ed47dba71c738fa5160202027737b46e2d2df76b/DSC_9891.jpg" /> <img width="5622" height="3748" width_o="5622" height_o="3748" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/d3ada4410bbfd18ff443f1d5c637bba44983ac0eecf00efa9a50788ba2ec7e49/DSC_9903.jpg" data-mid="251187919" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/d3ada4410bbfd18ff443f1d5c637bba44983ac0eecf00efa9a50788ba2ec7e49/DSC_9903.jpg" /> <img width="6224" height="4149" width_o="6224" height_o="4149" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/452af058e6f233deac1fb45bdc8b25274947373c64338a62d1b0cd57bdf5ea12/DSC_9906.jpg" data-mid="251187923" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/452af058e6f233deac1fb45bdc8b25274947373c64338a62d1b0cd57bdf5ea12/DSC_9906.jpg" /> <img width="6016" height="4016" width_o="6016" height_o="4016" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/40a1187e552d9e57dbdb06a637dafdd59d1ba28b2a4f276e7f8a7e3b53a8b401/DSC_9901.jpg" data-mid="251187924" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/40a1187e552d9e57dbdb06a637dafdd59d1ba28b2a4f276e7f8a7e3b53a8b401/DSC_9901.jpg" /> https://zeynepfirat.com/GALERIST-Distilled-From-Scattered-Blue Wed, 22 Jul 2026 13:43:51 +0000 Zeynep Fırat https://zeynepfirat.com/GALERIST-Distilled-From-Scattered-Blue GALERIST - Curated by Károly Aliotti, the group exhibition delves beyond the surface associations of blue, reaching for the peculiar and unexcavated feelings that reside in its depths. Distilled From Scattered Blue reflects the mysteries of the colour blue and the quest for what is yet undiscovered. It touches on wounds, memory, longing, loneliness, and distance, evoking a sense of creative pain. The exhibition borrows its title from a line in Lavinia Greenlaw's poem From Scattered Blue, expanding from the pale blue hues symbolising ethereal innocence to the vast blackness of the all-absorbing universe. That elusive place we can never reach, the knots in our stomachs, the pain we carry like a medal upon our chests – perhaps they are all blue, demanding that we lower our guards while quietly permeating our skin. Centred around the melancholic connotations of blue, the exhibition brings together works by Abdülmecid Efendi, Murat Akagündüz, Erol Akyavaş, Albert Bitran, Semiha Berksoy, Katrien de Blauwer, Hera Büyüktaşcıyan, Nejad Devrim, Marlene Dumas, Nermin Er, Max Ernst, Candeğer Furtun, Ahmet Doğu İpek, Fatoş İrwen, Şahin Kaygun, William Kentridge, Onur Kılıç, Gustav Klimt, Çağla Köseoğulları, Nermin Kura, Dora Maar, Basim Magdy, Kate MccGwire, Joan Miró, Mübin Orhon, Lara Ögel, Erman Özbaşaran, Anıl Saldıran, Sarkis, Léon Spilliaert, Yaşam Şaşmazer, Defne Tesal, Clare Twomey, Elif Uras&nbsp;and&nbsp;Masao Yamamoto. The exhibition is accompanied by a publication printed in English and Turkish. Designed by Okay Karadayılar and written by Aliotti, each copy of the publication becomes unique with its sleeve printed using the cyanotype technique. <img width="2250" height="1500" width_o="2250" https://zeynepfirat.com/Berkay-Tuncay-Human-how-strange-so-vulgar-such-a-masterpiece-and-yet Human, how strange, so vulgar, such a masterpiece and yet so primitive Berkay Tuncay 13/03 – 27/06/2020 SANATORIUMBerkay Tuncay’s solo exhibition titled “Human, how strange, so vulgar, such a masterpiece and yet so primitive” opened at SANATORIUM on March 13 2020, is re-opening for visitors from June 3 to June 27, 2020. The artist presents a reading of the Internet culture in relation to its historical connections, in regards to the capitalist, digital and absurd era that we are in. The exhibition takes its title from a Hande Yener song called Hubris, written by Sezen Aksu. The exhibition focuses on how digitization shaped popular culture and questions whether it can function to form connections between different cultures. Berkay Tuncay builds bridges between prehistory and today, making strong connections between these two separate periods of time. He examines contemporary digital culture and its habits, and brings out the unrecognized parallels between the “cutting edge” and the “primeval”. The artist focuses on our relationship with the Internet, the relationships that are formed on the Internet, prevalent anxiety, Internet slang and the homogenous culture by highlighting the historical continuity of these contemporary phenomena. <img width="2000" height="1335" width_o="2000" height_o="1335" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/0105dc8b9b1c2168c0e837d850acd4f47990ee54b3ee14fe1a29d2ad3b10109c/DSC_0936kucuk.jpg" data-mid="168948097" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/0105dc8b9b1c2168c0e837d850acd4f47990ee54b3ee14fe1a29d2ad3b10109c/DSC_0936kucuk.jpg" /><img width="2000" height="1335" width_o="2000" height_o="1335" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/f24485e4676f7ca32023764917091e9880aed72449e250ecfa817e7f989fbd23/DSC_0959kucuk.jpg" data-mid="168948100" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/f24485e4676f7ca32023764917091e9880aed72449e250ecfa817e7f989fbd23/DSC_0959kucuk.jpg" /> <img width="1333" height="2000" width_o="1333" height_o="2000" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/1c10aba864b32182ec26a989ec70757e87d626a9fede1acba7a8508136d749ed/DSC_0917REVrevsonkucuk.jpg" data-mid="168948122" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/1c10aba864b32182ec26a989ec70757e87d626a9fede1acba7a8508136d749ed/DSC_0917REVrevsonkucuk.jpg" /> <img width="1335" height="2000" width_o="1335" height_o="2000" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/fc53c98807f7faa1cac18b4e371611d019d2a4f0c49cae349e3bc9326e1b73dd/DSC_0913REVrevsonkucuk.jpg" data-mid="168948125" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/fc53c98807f7faa1cac18b4e371611d019d2a4f0c49cae349e3bc9326e1b73dd/DSC_0913REVrevsonkucuk.jpg" /> <img width="2000" height="1335" width_o="2000" height_o="1335" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/479de65e97eb2b637aab2d9aba8e71d26116b23ba3fe8ce9f0b15c4481cddde5/DSC_0890kucuk.jpg" data-mid="168948115" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/479de65e97eb2b637aab2d9aba8e71d26116b23ba3fe8ce9f0b15c4481cddde5/DSC_0890kucuk.jpg" /> <img width="2000" height="1335" width_o="2000" height_o="1335" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/2c696aafcd816d38a1fefcad9ff9b0ce63093b3f3a067db6db8030044b60bb26/DSC_0924kucuk.jpg" data-mid="168948118" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/2c696aafcd816d38a1fefcad9ff9b0ce63093b3f3a067db6db8030044b60bb26/DSC_0924kucuk.jpg" /><img width="2000" height="1333" width_o="2000" height_o="1333" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/6a974921faa908d20294f630b903e5f81050e24bbaef2580f34e9d08627a1b3c/DSC_0931-2kucuk.jpg" data-mid="168948119" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/6a974921faa908d20294f630b903e5f81050e24bbaef2580f34e9d08627a1b3c/DSC_0931-2kucuk.jpg" />
